Nails pull out. If screws are holding the hanger to the header board, you have friction so unless the hanger is allowed to slide; the screw will not be in shear.

You will be on the job buying more, thinking, I've got these at the shop, but I need them now. I work hard to not accumulate. Still have to clean out about 2 times a year.

2014年5月19日 · Over 20 years the nails have been pulled out and the piece comes off. To answer the question, face nail and put nails underneath through the 1" lip of the fascia. On the eave, I still put some nails going up, but more for consistency. I think the gutter does a fine job of keeping the wind from loosening nails.

Nail heads would often show through some of the sheet vinyls that were being sold back in the day. That said, I would think that ring shanks would be fine under a floating vinyl plank.

Previous owner added screws to try to secure the old wood while leaving nails so a big section is a mix of screws and nails. I did try to just remove the boards with a bull bar but didnt have much luck on boards with the screws.
