Hi Everyone, I am the creator of Animelon, @creamyhorror, thanks for linking us here, really appreciate it ;) Our goal for Animelon is solely to create a tool where someone can learn Japanese through immersion. My co-founder actually got really good at Japanese by years of watching anime in Chinese/Japanese double subtitles loaded onto VLC.

I just posted the following request on r/anime (but I thought I'd ask here too): I was enjoying Shirakuma Cafe with Japanese subs, but recently the Animelon website doesn't seem to load. (I can still watch Shirakuma Cafe on Crunchyroll, but only with only English subs which significantly decreases the benefit.)

animelon is awesome! i watched a ton of shows there when i first started using anki, and they do have a great selection. I also want to recommend when watching youtube, go into the description and click "captions script" at the bottom 文字お越し if you use japanese ui, and then you can use anki with the captions on any japanese vid.

Thus it's not very good as a main source of learning, because you can use decks and different SRS services without need to look for words, translation, sorting and so on. It's the most effective way to learn vocabulary. But sites like Animelon is a good source for practice and actually enjoy foreign language, especially when you learn it enough.

2018年7月4日 · I just found Animelon (search it in Google) where: 1- You can watch anime with English and Japanese subtitles at the same time. 2- Click in some terms (in the subtitles) and get the translation. 3- Watch the entire dialogue history at the right panel. Example here
Just a heads up that Animelon will soon be blocked in Australia
2020年4月22日 · But thought I'd give a heads up on the sub that Animelon is part of an injunction to be blocked in Australia as piracy. So get in the learning quick while you can I guess. For those that don't know, animelon provides tools for subs to help learn anime while you watch it. I won't link it here as I guess some places feel its piracy, but yeah.

2019年7月15日 · animelon often doesn't group different seasons into one anime, but splits them into different shows (e.g. K-On!, Sword Art Online, etc.). If one would consider those shows as a single anime, I am sure the ranking would improve for them if an anime contains subs for the intro/outro this makes it rank higher (which it probably shouldn't)
