It's a very nice place with a lot of nice birds, both well-bred birds that they produce and a lot of rescue birds. I figured when I met the right bird, I would just know. Well, the other day I went to petsmart for dog food and the most beautiful little GCC was there, in a cage alone.

Telling people on this sub to not buy from petsmart is only hitting the ears of people who probably care enough about animal welfare to have given a decent home to these birds. Sadly that population is a tiny percentage of people who will buy these birds on impulse because they are cheap in stores.

2021年1月18日 · Depends. We have gotten parakeets, conures, doves, canaries, finches, and cockatiels before. Most stores typically only have parakeets and finches as those are easier to come by. The rarer ones(at least at my store) are canaries and cockatiels. Call your local store and ask if they receive any different varieties of birds :)
What are your opinions on getting birds from Petco/Petsmart?
2020年12月13日 · My birds came from a small local pet store, not PetSmart or Petco. But when I see birds in those big stores there are just a few in huge, clean cages, with toys, vegetables for them to eat and pellets and cuttlebones and they are chirping and playing, happy as clams and they all look super healthy and well cared for.

2022年7月28日 · You can clip PetSmart owned birds (parakeets, cockatiels, and conures) but never pet parent owned birds. We would get constant request to trim per parent owned birds and that was a hard no. Reply reply

The way she behaves, I think she was clipped before she ever had the chance to fly, and she seems likes she’s never even been around other birds that fly either! She seems to think walking on the floor is normal, but is overwhelmed by my flighted budgies. It’s sad.

2014年7月9日 · I knew the manager and he gave me great discounts (50% off my U2 'cause he wanted her to go to a good home). It was a large store and they had a huge selection of parrots with a dedicated and knowledgeable staff. Plus, it was about 15 years ago. I believe Petsmart has substantially downsized their parrot selection since then.
