DENVER -- Valeri Nichushkin scored, then had the only goal in the shootout, helping the Colorado Avalanche to a 2-1 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights at Ball Arena on Wednesday. Nichushkin won it in the fifth round with a wrist shot to the short side under the glove of Adin Hill.

Nichushkin scored the lone goal in the fifth round of a shootout Wednesday night to give the Colorado Avalanche a hard-earned 2-1 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights at Ball Arena.

Not to mention, only six teams have conceded more shot attempts per game on the road than the Golden Knights. They're susceptible to giving up shots in bulk, as we’ve seen during their current road trip (Philadelphia generated 36 shots, and Ottawa piled up 40).
