The United States women’s national soccer team is about to look different. Veteran USWNT goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher announced on Monday that she is retiring from international competition.

Naeher has been the starter for the USWNT since Hope Solo retired after the 2016 Olympics, in which Naeher backed up Solo after her debut in 2014. She was the starter for the the Women's World Cup championship team in 2019 and she started in goal during the United States' Olympic Gold medal run in Paris this summer .

Naeher is on the team’s roster for a pair of upcoming matches in Europe, but those games will be her last after 11 years playing for the United States.
