The former detective was found dead of a gunshot wound on the back porch of his Edwardsville home Monday, the morning jury selection was to begin.

After ex-Kansas City, Kansas, police detective Roger Golubski failed to show up to court Monday morning, two sources familiar with the investigation who spoke on condition their names not be used said that the former officer died by suicide in his Edwardsville home.

Officers with the Edwardsville Police Department found Roger Golubski's body after responding to a 911 call from a neighbor reporting a gunshot.

Roger Golubski, who had been accused of raping and terrorizing Black women, was found dead on his back porch on Monday as his federal trial was set to begin.

Roger Golubski, a former Kansas City detective accused of sexually assaulting and threatening Black women, died by suicide in his home. The news comes after Golubski, 71, failed to show up for court on Monday.

The government was set to call to the stand as many as nine women who say Golubski raped, stalked or attempted to assault them.

Roger Golubski’s trial was supposed to start Monday morning in Topeka, but he never showed up. KBI said he was found dead at his home Monday morning.
