Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin tried to amend a bill that would require school boards to send annual notifications to parents about safe storage of prescription drugs and firearms, by adding a provision to prohibit schools from disclosing students’ gender identity questions to parents.

RICHMOND — The General Assembly rejected the bulk of Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s proposed line item amendments to the budget, voting to accept just 33 of the nearly 200 proposed changes.

Virginia lawmakers addressed scores of legislative vetoes and amendments from Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Wednesday, including the governor's 205 revisions to the state's budget bill that were decisively nixed by the Democratic-led General Assembly.
