The passage of an atmospheric river storm did not mean the end of the Bay Area's wet weather as steady rain continued to fall across the region Monday and there was a chance it could resume again on Thanksgiving Day.

Kern County is in for some heavy rain this Monday. An atmospheric river is pushing a second wave of storms our way. A winter storm alert is in effect for elevations above 6,500 feet with expected snowfall of 10 to 24 inches.

The first atmospheric river storm of the winter rainy season slammed into California on Wednesday. Driven by a powerful “bomb cyclone” off British Columbia, it brought heavy rains to Sonoma and Marin counties, dumping more than 6 inches in the hills above Guerneville by mid-afternoon.

After days of relentless rain and winds fueled by a persistent atmospheric river, much of California is now seeing a brief break. However, the state isn’t out of the woods just yet, with more rain and potential flooding forecast in the coming days.

Heather Waldman gives the seven-day outlook on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. She also talks about rain totals for Monday. Ryan Kobayashi, who flew to Los Angeles looking for his daughter, Hannah, after she was reported missing, 'tragically took his own life,' according to his family.

This will be the heaviest rainfall and snowfall event that we’ve experienced so far this wet season,” a National Weather Service meteorologist said.
