Players can commit to a new school at any time, whether or not it is within the transfer window. Players hoping to enroll for spring ball must commit by early January, but players who enter the portal in the fall are allowed to commit and then join the team during the summer.

Each of Vanderbilt football's first three seasons under Clark Lea ended with a loss to Tennessee that wasn't particularly close. The 2024 season won't end that way, even as the Commodores once again got boatraced by their rival yet again.
