LG has ended production of its range of Blu-ray players, adding concerns to an already rocky 4K Blu-ray market.

One of the last major electronics companies still manufacturing Blu-ray players has hit stop (or at least pause for now) on its two remaining devices. LG will no longer manufacture the UBK80 and UBK90 UHD Blu-ray players,

LG tells FlatpanelsHD it could produce more units if demand increases, although it hasn’t developed a new Blu-ray player since 2018.

It has been a tricky year for 4K Blu-ray. We have lost track of how many nails have been hammered into its coffin, though there have been a few rays of light to signal hope for the format, such as a promising message regarding sales from a major high street retailer.
