“Stanley has received 91 reports worldwide, including 16 in the U.S., of the recalled travel mugs’ lids detaching during use, resulting in 38 burn injuries worldwide, including two burn injuries in the U.S., with 11 consumers worldwide requiring medical attention.”

Stanley cups -- not the hockey trophy, the drinking vessels -- became a viral hydration sensation in recent years. But on Thursday, the company issued a recall of more than 2.6 million cups, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Millions of Stanley cups are being recalled throughout the United States. A defect with the mugs may cause those drinking from them harm. According to a release published by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), roughly 2.6 million of the brand’s stainless steel Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs pose a burn hazard.
