Reynolds Consumer Products is on the hook for nearly $4 million as part of settlement of a class action lawsuit aimed at the company's Hefty blue and clear bags marketed to hold recyclables.

According to a lawsuit, Reynolds Brands -- which owns Hefty and Great Value -- falsely advertised the bags as recyclable, even though they weren't able to be recycled.

The bags, which the lawsuit claim can’t be recycled in waste disposal facilities, must have been purchased between July 20, 2018 and August 30, 2023.
