This Kickstarter project is bring back the Apple Touch Bar -- but this time it works with a whole range of devices and is at least ten times more customisable.

The Flexbar is an external USB-C touchscreen aimed at Mac users who miss the Touch Bar. However, it's also a cross-platform peripheral so you can use it on your PC too. If you miss the Touch Bar, the little touchscreen that used to live above some MacBook Pro keyboards, we have some good news – it's coming back! Sort of.

Apple may have said goodbye to the MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar last year, but a team of four engineers believes the concept deserves a second chance. They’ve created the Flexbar, which is essentially a standalone version of the MBP’s thin touchscreen display that can be used with multiple devices and platforms through a USB connection.

When Apple discontinued the 13-inch MacBook Pro, it marked the end of the line for the Touch Bar. Apple may never make the Touch Bar again, but fortunately, the folks at Eniac have taken on the task of creating a replacement that it calls the Flexbar. The company is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to complete the project.

Dubbed the “Flexbar,” it’s not specifically targeted at Mac users, although the inspiration from the Touch Bar is undeniable. As far as the creators are concerned, the Touch Bar failed because Apple didn’t fully commit to it. They hope to fix that with a standalone device that will do everything the Touch Bar did and much more.

Apple Introduced the Touch Bar on MacBook Pros in 2016. It was as close as a MacBook would ever come to having a touchscreen display. In practice, you often touched the Touch Bar,
