San Jose State University said it was “disappointed” after Boise State dropped out of the end-of-season women’s volleyball championship rather than play the Spartans, whose team features a biological male.

As often happens with teams who have first-round byes in tournaments, San Jose State’s women’s volleyball players and coach went to scout the match between their two potential opponents in the Mountain West Conference tournament on Wednesday night at Cox Pavilion.
