The Indian Ministry of External Affairs clarified that the US allegations against Adani executives are legal matters concerning private entities.

Reports of summons had surfaced in the media after a five-count criminal indictment was unsealed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The Adani Group last week denied all allegations as baseless and said it would seek legal recourse to defend itself.

India's foreign ministry said on Friday that bribery allegations against billionaire Gautam Adani by U.S. authorities is a legal matter between private firms and the U.S. Department of Justice and that New Delhi is not involved in the case at this point.

Adani, 62, one of Asia’s richest men, was thrust into the spotlight last week when U.S. prosecutors in New York charged him and seven of his associates with securities fraud.

Adani has been charged by U.S. federal prosecutors with defrauding investors for a solar energy project in India.

Both houses of Indian parliament were suspended temporarily on Thursday within minutes of opening as opposition lawmakers disrupted proceedings for the third day this week seeking a discussion on allegations against the Adani Group.

Gautam Adani was charged for allegedly conspiring to pay about $265 million in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain contracts and develop India's largest solar power plant project on November 21.
