On Sunday, the Maharashtra excise department withdrew the license to serve alcohol at actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's Dil-Luminati concert, set to take place that evening in Pune's Kothrud area.

In a last-minute move, the state excise department, on Sunday cancelled the permit for serving liquor at Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s musical concert in the Kothrud area of Pune city. The decision comes after strong protests from the youth wing of the NCP party and senior BJP

Kothrud's newly elected BJP MLA Chandrakant Patil objected to plans to serve liquor at Diljit Dosanjh's Pune concert. "Such shows are not part of the city's culture," he said.

Newly-elected BJP MLA Chandrakant Patil was among the leaders who opposed Diljit Dosanjh's concert in Pune and said that such events were "against the culture" of the city and shouldn't be allowed to take place.

The Maharashtra excise department canceled the alcohol permit for Diljit Dosanjh's Pune concert after objections from BJP MLA Chandrakant Patil. Diljit, during his India tour, addressed criticism over alcohol-themed songs and pledged to stop singing about alcohol if all states declare themselves dry.

Meanwhile, sources said the the Excise department has denied permission for serving liquor at the event. However, there is no official statement out from Pune administration on cancellation of the event.

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh will perform in Maharashtra's Pune on November 24. However, the state excise department has cancelled the permission to serve liquor during the program.

The protesting residents also raised concerns over sound pollution due to installation of a large number of loudspeakers for the concert.
